Friday on the road, the Red Deer College Queens Basketball team faced the Medicine Hat College Rattlers. Prior to tonight's contest, only 2 points separated the teams in the ACAC Women's Basketball South Division. The Rattlers (5-4) had 10 points and the Queens (4-7) totalled 8. In the 1st half not much separated the teams. Medicine Hat College started to pull away in the 2nd half and won by 16 points.

At the half, the Rattlers had a slight 35-31 lead. In the 2nd half Medicine Hat outscored RDC 33-21 to complete the 68-52 victory.

Queens Head Coach Ken King saw an inconsistent effort on defence tonight.

"We had some great moments on defence but then we had moments of laziness and that is what cost us tonight," said King.

King was pleased with the effort from several student-athletes.

"Emily White and Maya Parker played excellent at both ends of the court," said King. "It was also very exciting to see Kaylee Kuba back on the floor after 4 months out of the lineup because of injury."

Emily White was named the Queens player-of-the-game. The Management Certificate student contributed 12 points, 5 blocks, 2 steals, 1 assist and 3 rebounds. Maya Parker totalled 20 points, 2 steals, 1 assist and 5 rebounds for the Queens.

Megan Getz led the Rattlers with 23 points. Getz also added 3 steals, 4 assists and 5 rebounds.

As a team, the RDC Queens shot 27.6% from the field and 59.1% from the free throw line. The Red Deer College Queens Basketball team (4-8) holds 5th place (out of 8 teams) in the ACAC Women's Basketball South Division with 8 points.

In Medicine Hat, the same 2 teams face each other Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
