With an afternoon start, it was a short turn around for the RDC Queens and SAIT Trojans from last night. The Queens did not show any signs of fatigue and opened the game on a 7-0 run. After the Queens took a lead, they built on it throughout the game and defeated the Trojans 80-49 in one of their best performances of the season.

After the 1st quarter, the Queens outscored the Trojans 18-13. Emily White led the Queens with 11 points. The Management Certificate student added 2 steals, 2 rebounds and was 4-for-4 from the field. Stephanie Haynes led the Trojans with 6 points.

In the 2nd quarter the Queens continued to press and extended their lead by 8 points (30-22). At the half, the RDC Queens went into the break up 37-28. The Trojans had a difficult time containing Emily White on the inside. The Horsens, Denmark native had a 2 quarter total of 19 points, 3 blocks, 2 steals and 5 rebounds. Kayla Guillet contributed 9 points, 2 assists and 1 rebound for the Queens. The RDC Queens played well defensively and often limited the Trojans to lower quality shots. For the Trojans, Martina Allen scored 16 points.

The Queens continued to build on their momentum, and in the 3rd quarter they expanded their lead to an impressive 24 points (56-32). After 3 quarters, the Red Deer College Queens led 64-38. White had a total of 26 points, 4 blocks, 2 steals, 2 assists and 6 rebounds. For the Trojans, Martina Allen had 20 points.

This afternoon, the RDC Queens displayed a consistent effort for all 4 quarters and they were rewarded for it. In one of the Queens most impressive games of the season, they defeated the SAIT Trojans 80-49.

Queens Head Coach Ken King was pleased with the effort and in particular the defensive play.

"We can look at the score and be happy that we scored 80 points, but I feel better that we held them to 49 points," said King. "The defence that we played today is our biggest victory on the day. Our big thing today was to see 40 minutes of defence and the student-athletes did a really good job of that this afternoon."

The Queens effective ball movement sparked the offence.

"Our offensive game is not challenging but has to be executed consistently and when we move the ball everything becomes easier," said King. "In the games that we haven't moved the ball, it was much more challenging for us to score. The formula is simple and hopefully we saw the fruits of the ball movement today."

Emily White was named the Queens player-of-the-game and totalled 28 points, 5 blocks, 3 steals, 3 assists and 8 rebounds. Martina Allen led the Trojans with 24 points.

King was happy with the play from Emily White.

"In Emily's 1st year, she was operating at about 80% with injuries. She was sick for much of the 1st half this year. We are seeing what Emily is capable of," said King. "She was able to score today. She was also able to pass well and protect the rim. When Emily is an effective passer, we are difficult to play against because the opponent can try to take her away but if she can find someone else open, then it becomes challenging for them."

The Queens connected on 50% of their shots from the field, 25% from behind the 3-point-arch and 65% from the free throw line.

Next weekend, the RDC Queens (4-7) travel to Medicine Hat to face the Rattlers in a 2 game set. Friday, the teams square off at 6:00 p.m. In a Saturday afternoon match-up, the Rattlers host the Queens at 1:00 p.m.
