Lightning over Queens in Calgary

After splitting the first two games they played each other, the Red Deer College Queens Basketball team once again faced the St. Mary's University Lightning Saturday in Calgary. The Lightning started strongly and eventually defeated the Queens 103-61.

After the first quarter, St. Mary's University pulled out to a 34-18 lead. Dedra Janvier led the Queens with 11 points, while adding 1 rebound.

At the half, the Lightning led 56-36. Emily White and Kiana Mintz each contributed 7 points for RDC in the second quarter.

St. Mary's University outscored the RDC Queens 47-25 in the second half to complete the 103-61 home win.

Emily White and Kiana Mintz each finished with 17 points for their Queens. Mintz added 5 steals, 1 assist, 4 rebounds and drained 3-of-6 three point attempts. White contributed 2 steals, 4 assists, 4 rebounds and was perfect from the free throw line hitting 5-of-5 opportunities. As a team, the Queens finished with 29 rebounds, 14 assists and 10 steals.

Friday, Nov. 18 at Red Deer College, the Queens host the Briercrest College Clippers at 6:00 p.m.
