Caronport, SK - Kings setter Thomas Wass kept the Clippers' defence guessing. The third-year Bachelor of Arts student spread out the offence in the season opener, helping the RDC Kings defeat the Briercrest College Clippers in five sets (21-25, 25-17, 25-18, 22-25 and 15-13).

Thomas Wass had 51 assists, seven digs and one ace in the road victory.

Three Kings hit double digits in kills. Brisbane's Patrik Toze led the visitors with 16. Red Deer's Jonathan (JJ) Graham had 14 and Lacombe's Mark DeWit knocked down 13. 

Kings first-year outside hitter Carter Hills had a solid game, contributing six kills, eight digs and five service aces. As a team, the Kings recorded 10 aces. The Clippers had five.

For his great performance, Thomas Wass was named the Kings Player-of-the-Game. Karym Coleman was recognized for the Clippers, totaling 20 kills, four digs and one ace.

Six-foot-eight middle Dillon Gauci had five of the Kings' eight stuff blocks. Briercrest College had four.

On Saturday at 3:00 p.m., the RDC Kings (1-0) and Clippers (0-1) will meet in Caronport.
