Volleyball Kings sweep Kodiaks again

Volleyball Kings sweep Kodiaks again

The Red Deer College Kings Volleyball team continues to roll in the early stages of the regular season. The Kings faced the Kodiaks once again at Lethbridge College this afternoon, defeating them in three straight sets.

The RDC Kings won the first set 25-19, the second set 25-11 and the final set 25-19.

Despite sweeping the Kodiaks yesterday, Kings Head Coach Aaron Schulha wanted to see a few areas improve this afternoon.

"We wanted to improve our blocking and serving today and we did," said Schulha. "We were much better and normally try to aim for a one-to-two service ace to service error ratio. We beat our goal today and had four aces to six service errors. We also added fifteen stuffed blocks."

Regan Fathers and Matthew Lofgren had 8 kills each. Adam Turlejski added 4 stuffed blocks and was very solid.

The Kings strong play allowed the Head Coach to utilize a variety of players.

"With the way we played today we were able to use a few different guys on the floor," said Schulha.

Ty Moorman was named the Kings player-of-the-game. The Pentiction, British Columbia native contributed 4 kills, 5 stuffed blocks, 2 digs and 2 aces in the two sets he played.

Leading the ACAC Men's Volleyball South Division, the Kings are perfect with a 4-0 record.

The Kings host the Medicine Hat College Rattlers at the RDC Main Gym Friday, Oct. 28 at 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 29 at 3:00 p.m.
