Neto leads Kings over Rustlers

Lloydminster – Perhaps inspired by the Queens victory before them, the RDC Kings had a similar effort and result against the Lakeland College Rustlers. After scoring early, the RDC Kings continued to keep their foot on the gas and defeated Lakeland College 5 – 0.
William Arcinegas Salazar put the Kings up 1 – 0 in the 11th minute and they kept the offence rolling. Before the end of the opening half, Pedro Humberto Mourao Neto and Gabriel Fleury de Queiroz tallied to give the RDC Kings a three goal margin. In the second half, the Kings continued to pour it on. Matheus Alves, in the 51st minute, and Pedro Humberto's second goal in the 69th minute, provided the Kings a comfortable 5 – 0 road win.
Kings Head Coach Wade Groenewegen was pleased with all of the contributions in the victory. "It was a complete effort from the whole squad," he says. "We did what we wanted on the offensive side of the ball and followed through on the defensive side."
Austin Langdon, a Bachelor of Education student from Calgary, got the nod in net for the Kings and turned aside four shots. "It was mostly quiet in net for Austin but he made a couple of big saves when tested to earn the clean sheet," says Groenewegen.
Groenewegen liked many of the performances, especially the two-goal effort from one of his first-year midfielders. "Pedro (Humberto Mourao Neto) was the Player-of-the-Game with two goals and he had dangerous distribution," he says.
Despite an injury to a key player, the depth of the Kings came through. "Unfortunately, Theoren Gill had to leave the game after a collision just before half but Antonio Suhalj was excellent coming off the bench," says Groenewegen.
On Saturday, October 13, the second place RDC Kings (5 - 1 - 2) will host the first place SAIT Trojans (7 – 0 - 0) at 2:00 p.m. in Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Men's Soccer South Division action. The Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) ranked the RDC Kings 13th and the SAIT Trojans first in the nation.
