Epic second half helps Kings rally past Lions

Calgary, AB - After a slower start, the Red Deer College Kings shifted into another gear in the second half and defeated the Ambrose University Lions 91-88.

The Lions hit their home court with a high level of intensity, putting up 29 points in the first quarter and taking a 49-29 edge at the half. After an even third quarter (26-26), the Red Deer College Kings played one of their best quarters of the season, limiting the Lions to only 13 points while dominating offensively with an astounding 36 points. The Kings earned an important 91-88 decision, with every game crucial in the playoff picture. 

Khurram Sultan had an incredible game, earning the Kings Player-of-the-Game. The fifth-year guard from Edmonton totaled 24 points, three rebounds and one steal. Barzin Eskandarkhah had 16 points and Spencer Klassen finished with 15.

Isaac Gray led the Lions with 40 points.

The RDC Kings have won six consecutive games and have been in playoff mode for a while now.

With the victory, the Kings (11-8) sit alone in fourth spot in the south with 22 points. Lethbridge College (10-9) has 20 points. 

The Red Deer College Kings have two games remaining in the regular season. On Friday, February 22, the Kings will compete against the Briercrest College Clippers at 8:00 p.m. in Saskatchewan. Then on Saturday, the two teams will play at 3:00 p.m.
