Queens Curling team earns win, Kings and mixed team look to rebound
Friday evening, the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Curling Winter Regionals kicked off at Avonair Curling Club in Edmonton and all Red Deer College Curling teams were in action.
On sheet five, the Kings dropped a 5-3 decision to the NAIT Ooks at 8:00 p.m. Due to injury, Shayne Copeland, the lead for the RDC Kings, is unable to participate at the Winter Regionals. Jordan Smith is replacing Copeland and Brent Taylor-Gross is the spare.
The RDC Queens Curling team started off on the right food and defeated Olds College 7-2 at 8:00 p.m. on sheet 6 and finished 1-0 on the evening.
The Red Deer College Mixed Curling team went 0-2 on the day. At 4:30 p.m., the RDC Mixed Curling team dropped an 8-2 decision to the MacEwan University Griffins. The NAIT Ooks defeated the RDC Mixed team 8-5 at 8:00 p.m.
Day two of the three day event will begin at 9:00 a.m. Saturday morning. All three Red Deer College teams will look to pick up wins. The Kings will take on Olds College in the morning draw. The Queens will face Lakeland College at 9:00 a.m. and the RDC Mixed team will compete against Olds College at 12:30 p.m. Concordia University of Edmonton is hosting the event.
