RDC Curling teams earn medals at ACAC Championships
The ACAC Curling Championships wrapped up at the Vermilion Curling Club and all 3 RDC Curling teams experienced success. Lakeland College hosted the event.
In the mixed division final, Concordia University started off with 4 in the 2nd end but Red Deer College slowly picked away at their lead. After 8 ends the score was tied and in dramatic fashion the gold medal game went into extra ends. Concordia made their final shot to secure a 7-6 win and the ACAC gold medal. The RDC team picked up silver.
In the women's gold medal game, Concordia was up 3-2 over RDC after 3 ends. A steal of 4 in the 4th end proved to be too large of a deficit to come back from and Concordia came away with a 9-4 victory. The RDC Women's Curling team earned silver.
In the men's bronze medal game there was no scoring in the first couple of ends. Not much separated the 2 teams and after the 4th the score was tied 1-1. Red Deer picked up 3 on Olds in the 5th end and stole points in the 6th and 7th to secure the 6-4 win and ACAC bronze.
