All RDC Curling teams qualify for ACAC Championships

In an important final day at the ACAC Curling Winter Regional, all 3 Red Deer College Curling teams picked up crucial wins and punched their tickets to the ACAC Curling Championships. The event will take place at the Vermilion Curling Club in February.

In a morning start, the Red Deer College Men's Curling team blanked Lakeland College 8-0 at 8:30 a.m. With the victory, the RDC men earned a 4-2 weekend record. Combined with their 6-0 Fall Regional result, the RDC Men's Curling team finished in top spot in the men's division with a 10-2 record and will be the team to beat in Vermilion. 

At 8:30 a.m., the RDC Women's Curling team defeated Lakeland College 5-3. The RDC women finished with a 3-2 record this past weekend. Combined with their 3-2 Fall Regional result, the RDC Women's Curling team finished 6-4 which places them 2nd in the women's division and sends the team to the ACAC Championships. 

The Red Deer College Mixed Curling team won 8-6 over MacEwan University at 8:30 a.m. At 12:00 p.m., RDC defeated Olds College 6-5. With the victories, the RDC Mixed Curling team pushed their record to 4-3 on the weekend. Over the 2 regionals, the mixed team placed 3rd overall with a 10-4 record. They also qualify for the ACAC Curling Championships.

Lakeland College will host the 2016-2017 ACAC Curling Championships Feb. 24 - 26, 2017.
