Pearman and Queens take weekend series over Rattlers in Medicine Hat

Medicine Hat, AB - Backed by a 14 kill performance from outside hitter Tess Pearman, the RDC Queens picked up another four set victory over the Rattlers (25-23, 25-14, 20-25 and 25-17) on Saturday afternoon, taking the weekend series.

Queens setter Kelly Heinemann (38 assists) successfully connected with outside hitter Erin Neufeldt for 12 kills. Red Deer's Emma Holmes had seven and Sydney Rix contributed five. Alexandria Greenshields was strong out of the middle once again, finishing with seven kills, seven digs, four stuff blocks and two service aces.

Tess Pearman was named the Queens Player-of-the-Game. In addition to her double-digit performance in kills, the second-year Bachelor of Education Secondary student added 11 digs and five stuff blocks, contributing a total of 19 points for the visitors.

Amber Stigter led Medicine Hat with 10 kills. Brooke Christie had six.

The Red Deer College Queens finished the match with six service aces and 11 stuff blocks.

After dropping their opening two matches to the first place Briercrest College Clippers (8-0), the Queens have gone on a six game winning streak, sharing second spot in the south with the Ambrose University Lions (6-4). The RDC Queens also have two games in hand over the Lions. 

Next weekend, the RDC Queens (6-2) will face the Kodiaks (2-6) in a pair of matches at Lethbridge College. On Friday, November 22, the two teams will meet at 6:00 p.m.
