Brent Forster - RDC

Edmonton, AB – Kings defenceman Donovan Lumb was effective at both ends of the ice against the Concordia University Thunder. The Bachelor of Business Administration student helped set up the Kings' first goal and scored their second, leading the visitors to a 3-2 road victory.

The RDC Kings' second ranked power play (24.5%) went to work in the first period. At 11:02, Donovan Lumb and Tyler Podgorenko fed Chase Thudium, who beat Concordia's defence wide, cut across the crease, and tucked the puck behind Tanner McCorriston.

C. Thudium (10)

Donovan Lumb put RDC up a pair at 8:18 of the middle frame after he pinched in from the blue line and banged home a rebound. It was the steady defender's first goal and seventh point of the season. Sylvan Lake's Dylan Thudium had the lone helper.

Before the end of the stanza, the Thunder evened the contest. First Chad Hurtubise struck on the man advantage and then less than five minutes later Keegan Tiringer found space behind Arik Weersink.

It didn't take long into the third period for the visitors to take the lead. Only 2:19 into the frame, Mathieu Lapointe scored the go-ahead goal. Ryley Smith carried the puck over the Thunder's blue line and dished to Lapointe on the left side. The six-foot-four left winger fired it low on McCorriston's glove side. Chance Longjohn had the other assist. The tally turned out to be the game winner.

Lapointe (91)

Arik Weersink made 32 saves for the win (0.941). Tanner McCorriston turned aside 27 shots (0.900).

Donovan Lumb and Keegan Tiringer were named the Players-of-the-Game.

The RDC Kings went one-for-two on the power play. The Concordia University Thunder struck once on four attempts.

The Kings sit in second place, only four points behind the NAIT Ooks (19-3-0-0).

On Saturday at 7:00 pm, the Red Deer College Kings (15-4-2-0) will play the Concordia University Thunder (7-11-1-2) at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre.
