Kings push late but can't overtake Lions

Calgary, AB - A strong RDC Kings' fourth quarter wasn't quite enough against the Ambrose University Lions. The Kings dropped 30 points in the final ten minutes, but relinquished a 106-90 road decision. 

The hosts held a ten point edge at the half (50-40). After the Lions broke out with 31 points in the third quarter, the Kings responded with 30 in the fourth. The visitors couldn't close the gap and Ambrose University sealed a home win by 16 points. 

Kings guard Spencer Klassen totaled 22 points, four boards, three steals and one assist in another heart-and-soul effort. The fifth-year was selected the Kings Player-of-the-Game. 

Toronto's Tyronn King stacked up 21 points, nine rebounds, five assists and a steal. Off the bench, Cody White knocked down 13 points in only 14 minutes. 

Nhial Phillip led the Lions with 20 points. Isaac Gray added 19 and Isaac Amsing had 18. 

The home team won the battle on the boards (51-39).

Ambrose University was efficient from the field, hitting 50.6 per cent of their attempts. RDC responded with 40.5.

The Red Deer College Kings are fifth in the south with 16 points, only two points out of a playoff spot. 

The Kings (8-10) will entertain the Lions (11-7) on Saturday at 8:00 pm at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre.
