CAMROSE, Alta - The Augustana Vikings welcomed the reigning Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference champions to the Encana Arena, on a brisk January evening to kick off the second half of the regular season.

The Red Deer Polytechnic Kings shook off the bus legs and exploded for six 2nd period goals while eventually skating away with an 8-4 victory. Leading the way for the Kings on the evening was Nolan Doell with a hat trick and veteran Chance Longjohn with a goal and two assists.

Jacob Biensch and Jordan Mish had good evenings for the Vikings, each collecting two assists on the night. Mish was all over the game sheet while also adding up six minutes in penalties.

Kings goaltender Arik Weersink earned the win while collecting 21 saves throughout the game. Both Vikings goaltenders Daniel Moody and Justin Bourque saw the ice tonight tasked with turning away 40 Kings shots.

The Vikings will look for redemption tomorrow when they head south to Red Deer for a Saturday night rematch at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre, puck drops at 7 pm.
