The Running Room Grand Prix #5 wrapped up in Camrose on Saturday, and Jordanna Cota had another tremendous performance. As a team, the RDC Queens took second while the Kings placed third.

Cota, from Red Deer, was the top Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) female runner on Saturday and she eclipsed the 24 minute mark. To say that Cota is having a good season would be an understatement. The Bachelor of Science (Nursing) student earned another 1st place finish, which was her 3rd this season in 3 competitions. Cota completed the 6 kilometre race in 23:42. This was 36 seconds faster than Ricki Christopher of SAIT (24:18). Jill Stewart placed 5th (24:46) and Bachelor of Science (Nursing) student, Shaelyn Moltzahn, crossed the finish line in 11th spot (25:50).

Adam Wass, from Lacombe, was the fastest RDC Kings runner and placed 7th among ACAC men (29:08). Devon Gurney finished in 12th (30:21) and Stephen Rowley completed the 8 kilometre race in 14th (30:26).

Cross-Country Running Head Coach Kari Elliott was very pleased with the effort. "The RDC women ran really well today and the men just killed it. Both, Devon Gurney and Adam Wass had amazing races today," said Elliott. "There were several personal bests today and for the first time Jordanna ran under 24 minutes."

The Red Deer College Cross-Country Running team will be training hard as they prepare for the ACAC Cross-Country Running Championships on Saturday, October 28 at Red Deer College.
