Domoney helps Queens sweep Broncos

Brent Forster - RDC

Olds, AB - Kaylee Domoney has been a consistent performer for the Red Deer College Queens. On Thursday evening, the fourth-year libero played a key role in helping the Queens pick up their third match victory in the early stages of the season. The visitors started strong and eventually defeated the Olds College Broncos in straight sets (25-16, 25-13 and 25-18).

Domoney, a Kinesiology student, racked up 21 digs and one assist, earning the Queens Player-of-the-Game. She accurately located setter Kelly Heinemann, who was effective distributing the ball to a variety of Queens' offensive weapons.

Outside hitters Emma Holmes and Tess Pearman balanced the attack with nine kills each. Bachelor of Science Nursing student Erin Neufeldt contributed seven kills, seven digs, one ace and one stuff. Out of the middle, Alexandria Greenshields secured four kills, five aces and one dig.

Heinemann finished with 31 assists, two stuff blocks and two digs.

Tabitha Martin led the Broncos with seven kills.

As a team, the Queens were strong on the serve, recording 11 aces. Olds College finished with a pair.

The second place Queens (3-2) will host the Broncos (2-3) on Friday, November 8 at 6:00 p.m.
