Van Dyke and Queens down Lions in Calgary

Calgary, AB - The RDC Queens started the second half of the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) schedule on a positive note, handling the Ambrose University Lions in three straight sets (25-15, 27-25 and 25-22).

Jade Van Dyke led the way offensively for the Queens, accumulating 11 kills and 2 service aces. The Bachelor of Science Nursing student from Cochrane added 11 digs and 1 stuff block. Katrina Dawe also played an effective match, recording 9 kills, 10 digs, 2 assists and 1 stuff block. Setter Natalie Bloemen contributed 28 assists, 6 digs and 2 stuff blocks in the road victory.

Jeena Johner totaled 7 kills, 2 service aces and 3 stuff blocks for the Lions. 

With the victory, the Red Deer College Queens improve to 7-6 on the season and share fourth spot in the south with the Medicine Hat College Rattlers (7-6). Both teams have 14 points and trail the third place Ambrose University Lions (8-5) by only two points. 

On Saturday at 6:00 p.m., the Queens will entertain the Lions at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre.
