Clippers take home decision as Queens wrap up road trip

Caronport, SK The last time the Red Deer College Queens faced the Briercrest College Clippers, Angenay Williams knocked down 39 points. Saturday evening the fourth-year forward was another significant contributor. Williams scored 47 points and led Briercrest College to a 107-94 home win. 

The home team held a four point edge at half (52-48). The Clippers added another 55 points in the second half and were up 13 points after 40 minutes. 

Four Queens hit double-digits in points. Stockholm's Sophie Melin led the way with 24 points. St. Albert's Lauren Cardinal contributed 21. Harneet Sidhu had 16 and Amy Szymanek added 11.

Sophie Melin (10 rebounds) and Lauren Cardinal (10 rebounds) recorded double-doubles in the second game of a challenging long distance road trip.

Amber Tilcox was next in Clippers' scoring with 20 points.

Briercrest College hit 38-of-80 (47.5%) from the field. RDC went 34-for-71 (47.9%). 

The Queens hit eight from long range and the Clippers sank four. Williams had three.

Sophie Melin drained four out of eight from beyond the arc. 

Conference play will resume for the RDC Queens (4-6) on Saturday, January 18 in Olds against the Broncos at 6:00 p.m.

Before then, they will have an exhibition game against the Keyano College Huskies. The two teams will meet on Sunday, January 5 at 10:00 a.m. at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre.
