Garcia-Bernal and Queens cage Lions in Calgary

Calgary, AB – The RDC Queens trailed by five points in the fourth quarter against the Ambrose University Lions, but it didn't rattle them. The Queens persisted and took charge in the final quarter, earning a 79-76 road victory.

For the majority of the game, it was a very close contest. The Lions held a slight 39-38 edge at the half. Then in the second half, the Queens outscored the Lions by four (41-37), sealing a 79-76 win.

Sandra Garcia-Bernal was selected as the Queens Player-of-the-Game, accumulating 18 points, one block, one assist and one rebound. Harneet Sidhu totaled 18 points and six rebounds. Bachelor of Education Science student Katie Ballhorn finished with 11 points.

Catarina Dimonekene led the Lions with 17 points, while adding three rebounds and one block.

The Red Deer College Queens will play a pair of road games next weekend against the Briercrest College Clippers. On Friday, February 22, the Clippers will host the Queens at 6:00 p.m. and then on Saturday, the two teams will meet at 1:00 p.m. in the Queens' final game of the season.
