Holmes powers Kings past Broncos

Brent Forster - RDC

Olds, AB - RDC fourth-year outside hitter Ben Holmes has an impressive volleyball resume. When the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) and Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) gold medal winner returned to the Kings lineup after injury, his accomplished play was noticeable.

The RDC Bachelor of Arts student totaled 10 kills, eight digs, two stuff blocks and one ace, leading the Kings to a three set victory over the Olds College Broncos (25-21, 25-19 and 25-16). Holmes hit for 53.3 per cent efficiency and was rewarded with the Kings Player-of-the-Game.

Wass (3) and DeWit (8)

Middle Mark DeWit played another effective match, finishing with eight kills, two aces, one dig and one stuff. Setter Thomas Wass (26 assists) connected with first-year outside hitter Carter Hills for seven kills. Red Deer's Jonathan (JJ) Graham had six.

Carter Hills (4)

The RDC Kings recorded 12 stuff blocks. Olds College had nine.

Ryzen Walkingbear and Lukas Dragicevic had nine kills each for Olds.

The RDC Kings (4-1) sit in third spot in the south, but have also played less matches than the Trojans (6-1) and Clippers (5-1).

In a rematch, the Kings (4-1) will entertain the Broncos (0-5) at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre on Friday, November 8 at 8:00 p.m.
