RDC Athlete of the Week for March 16, 2020
Carter Hills had a magnificent performance at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Men’s Volleyball National Championship and was recognized as a CCAA Second-Team Tournament All-Star. Against the St. Thomas Tommies, the six-foot-two outside hitter recorded ten kills, five digs, three aces and two blocks in Thursday’s three set sweep (25-13, 27-25 and 25-16) in Fredericton, N.B.
Hills had a match-high 20 kills, along with 15 digs, three blocks and an ace in a very close five set semi-final setback to the eventual champion Capilano Blues (22-25, 25-14, 25-23, 14-25 and 13-15). The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) South Rookie of the Year was named the Kings Player-of-the-Game for his outstanding effort.
In the bronze semi-final match, the first-year Bachelor of Education Elementary student had another strong game against the Lethbridge College Kodiaks. He totaled a team-high 18 kills, in addition to 13 digs, five blocks, one ace and a 0.400 hitting percentage in the Kodiaks’ five set decision (23-25, 25-16, 21-25, 25-18 and 13-15). The RDC Kings placed fifth nationally.

RDC Athlete of the Week for Feb. 10, 2020
Carter Hills continues to evolve his game and make an impact for Kings Volleyball. Over two matches, Hills helped the RDC Kings defeat the Olds College Broncos twice while accumulating impressive statistics. The six-foot-two outside hitter contributed 11 kills, eight digs, two service aces and one assist in the Kings’ sweep of the Broncos (25-15, 25-22 and 25-18) on Friday. Then in Saturday’s rematch in Olds, the Bachelor of Education Science student recorded a game-high 15 kills to go along with three stuff blocks, two digs and one ace. Hills had an impressive 0.419 hitting percentage in the four set road victory (25-14, 25-19, 23-25 and 25-19). The talented first-year student-athlete averaged 3.71 kills per set, up from his season average of 2.88, which ranks first on the Kings and ninth in the entire league. Hills and the second seed Kings (16-4) have already qualified for the playoffs with four regular season matches left.

RDC Athlete of the Week for Jan. 13, 2020
On many nights, first-year Carter Hills has played beyond his years. The six-foot-two outside hitter helped lead the RDC Kings Volleyball team (10-4) to a three set victory over the Lethbridge College Kodiaks (25-22, 25-20 and 25-18) this past Friday. Hills led both teams with 12 kills. He added seven digs, one stuff block and one assist, and was named the Collegiate Sports Medicine Kings Player-of-the-Game. Despite dropping Saturday’s match to the Kodiaks (23-25, 20-25 and 15-25), Hills contributed seven kills, three digs, one assist and one stuff block. In 14 matches, he has a total of 124 kills and 0.241 hitting percentage. The Bachelor of Education Science student leads the Kings with 2.70 kills per set, ranking him 14th in the league.
