After a setback in Medicine Hat last weekend, the Volleyball Kings were looking for a strong bounce back performance and they got it in Calgary against the Ambrose University Lions on Friday evening. The Kings controlled much of the match and picked up a three set road victory.

The RDC Kings set the tone early with a 25-18 win in the first set. The Lions kept the second set close in the early stages (8-9), but RDC persevered and won 25-23. Ambrose University tried to push back in the third set and had a 1 point lead until Adam Turlejski tied the set 18-18 with a kill down the middle. The Kings outscored the Lions 7-4 the remainder of the way and earned a 25-22 victory to pick up the three set win.

For RDC, Adam Turlejski and Mark DeWit had 7 kills each. Ben Holmes and Scott Irvine picked up 4 kills each for the Kings. Setter Thomas Wass led the way with 18 assists. The Kings applied pressure on the Lions' defence with a team total of 6 service aces.

Aaron Schulha, head coach of the RDC Kings, was pleased with the victory and work ethic. "It was nice to get a 3-0 win on the road after a couple of tough weekends. I thought that our service pressure was better, but we also let their serve-receive off the hook at times with some bad misses," said Schulha. "We had a fairly spread out offence and we worked hard throughout the match which was nice. I thought that our two man blocks looked okay, but we need to be more aggressive with our blocking in general."

The RDC Kings (6-3) will host the Ambrose University Lions (0-7) on Saturday, November 11 at 8:00 p.m. in the RDC Main Gym.
