Six different goal scorers help Kings control Vikings

Camrose, AB - The RDC Kings' balanced attack was too much for the host University of Alberta Augustana Vikings to handle Saturday afternoon. Six different goal scorers contributed for the visitors, helping the Kings down the Vikings 6-1.

Head Coach Wade Groenewegen had the Red Deer College Kings ready to play right off the hop. Only 11 minutes into the contest, RDC Business Administration student Gabriel Fleury de Queiroz beat Vikings goalkeeper Kaison Hauber for an early lead. Three minutes later, Turner Johnson headed a Kyle Bett pass behind Hauber.

The Kings continued to apply pressure. Gabriel Fleury de Queiroz distributed the ball to Lacombe's Nathan Swartz and the Bachelor of Science student found the back of the Vikings' net in the 29th minute, propelling the Kings ahead 3-0. Before the end of the half, the Kings struck again. Defender Matthew Elphick connected on a penalty shot in the 31st minute.

RDC midfielder Pedro Humberto Mourao Neto beat Dobson 23 minutes into the second half. Sylvan Lake's Dagan Slimmon picked up the lone assist. Slimmon's contributions continued in the 74th minute. The first-year Bachelor of Education Secondary student was successful on a penalty shot, giving the Kings a six goal cushion. As time was winding down, Vikings fourth-year forward Paul Lovsin finally solved Kings goalkeeper Jacob Hamilton. The RDC Kings earned a solid 6-1 victory, their third in a row.
