Edmonton, AB - It was a battle between the top two teams in Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Men's Hockey. The Kings had several strong efforts, including a power play marker from Mathieu Lapointe, but the NAIT Ooks captured a 4-1 decision.
The home team got on the board first. At 11:32 of the first period, NAIT's Colton Waltz found room behind Kings goaltender Arik Weersink.
That lead held until 5:34 of the middle stanza. On the power play, Kings six-foot-four left winger Mathieu Lapointe beat Jordan Papirny, tying the contest 1-1. Richmond's Jacob Wozney and Nelson's Tyler Podgorenko picked up the assists.
Before the end of the period, Tanner Younghans pushed the Ooks ahead 2-1 while shorthanded.
Younghans scored his second of the game nearly four minutes into the third period and Jake Mykitiuk rounded out the Ooks' scoring at 11:33.
The Red Deer College Kings pressed late, but couldn't reduce the gap further and NAIT won 4-1.
Mathieu Lapointe was named the Kings top performer. Tanner Younghans was recognized for the Ooks.

NAIT outshot RDC 32-27.
The Kings went one-for-five with the man advantage and their penalty kill was flawless on a pair of NAIT power plays. The RDC Kings have the top penalty kill in the league (100 per cent).
In a rematch, the RDC Kings (3-1-1-0) will entertain the NAIT Ooks (5-0-0-0) on Saturday, October 26 at 7:00 p.m. at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre.
