The Red Deer College Kings Basketball team faced the Rattlers in Medicine Hat on Saturday afternoon, and after the Kings fell behind early they had a strong fourth quarter but it wasn't quite enough. The Rattlers won by 15 points on their home court.

Medicine Hat College outscored RDC 38 – 23 in the first half. Dshawn Tyrell, a first-year guard from Malton, Ontario, picked up 4 points and 3 rebounds in the first quarter and Darien Valdes, a first-year guard from Calgary, had 3 points in the second quarter for RDC.

Each team added 50 points in the second half, but the Kings had a stronger fourth quarter and outscored the Rattlers 28 – 20. At the final buzzer, Medicine Hat College held an 88 – 73 advantage. Tyrell contributed 17 points and 5 rebounds for the Kings in the third quarter. Omon Edobar led the way for RDC in the final quarter, and totaled an outstanding 19 points and 1 rebound.

Over four quarters, Tyrell picked up a double-double (27 points and 10 rebounds). Braiden Ousey and Darien Valdes had 6 points each for the Kings.

Kings Basketball Head Coach Clayton Pottinger credited the Rattlers but thought that the Kings' slow start made it difficult on themselves. "We didn't come out with great energy this afternoon and we dug ourselves a hole," said Pottinger. "We looked lethargic, but I don't want to take anything away from Medicine Hat because they are a tough team."

Omon Edobar was named the player-of-the-game for the RDC Kings. The first-year guard from Calgary finished with 24 points, 2 assists and 3 rebounds. Pottinger was pleased with the contributions from Edobar. "Omon showed toughness down the stretch for us," said Pottinger. "He was strong defensively and also contributed on the offensive side."

The Kings (2 - 2) will host the Ambrose University Lions (1 - 2) on Friday, November 17 at 8:00 p.m. On Saturday, November 18, the RDC Kings will face the Lethbridge College Kodiaks (2 - 1) at 8:00 p.m. in the RDC Main Gym.
