Day one wraps up at ACAC Curling Championships in Red Deer

Red Deer, AB - It was a great start to the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Curling Championships presented by Holiday Inn. Student-athletes from seven post-secondary institutions hit the ice at the Pidherney Curling Centre in Red Deer and put on a display of top notch talent and dedication to their sport.

In the opening draw, the Concordia University Thunder Men's team were edged 6-5 by the Lakeland College Rustlers. SAIT shaded NAIT 5-4.

The Concordia University Thunder Women's team downed the University of Alberta Augustana Vikings 10-8. The host RDC Queens got by the NAIT Ooks 7-6.

In the ACAC Mixed Curling Division, the MacEwan University Griffins picked up an 8-7 decision over the NAIT Ooks. The Lakeland College Rustlers dropped the U of A Augustana Vikings 9-4.

All teams will hit the ice at 10:00 am on Saturday for the second day of competition.
