RDP Athletics Update (November 10, 2025)
November 10, 2025
The Red Deer Polytechnic Kings Hockey team will host the Portage Voyageurs in Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) regular season action. Both RDP Volleyball teams will challenge the Northwestern Polytechnic Wolves and The King’s University Eagles. The Kings and Queens Basketball squads will play games on the road.

This past week, the RDP Queens Soccer team won bronze at the 2025 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Women’s Soccer National Championship hosted by Red Deer Polytechnic at Setters Place. Both the RDP Kings and Queens Cross Country ranked in the top 10 at the CCAA Cross Country Running National Championships. The Kings and Queens Hockey teams won their weekend series. The Red Deer Polytechnic Kings and Queens Basketball squads dropped their games to the Thunder. Both volleyball teams downed the Ambrose University Lions.
RDP Queens earn national bronze

When the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens entered the 2025 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Women’s Soccer National Championship they were unranked nationally and without the services of standout McKenna Leslie due to injury, but that didn’t discourage them. The Queens, who won Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) bronze, showed tremendous heart and made program history, earning national bronze—their first CCAA medal—with a 2-1 victory over the St. Clair Saints (Ontario Colleges Athletic Association Champions) at Setters Place in Red Deer.

This week, the RDP Queens Soccer team will host the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Women’s Soccer National Championship at Setters Place. The Red Deer Polytechnic Kings and Queens Cross Country Running teams will participate in the CCAA Cross Country Running National Championships. The Kings Hockey team will play the Concordia University Thunder while the Queens will face the Olds College Broncos in regular ACAC action. The Red Deer Polytechnic Kings and Queens Basketball squads will tip-off against the Thunder. Both volleyball teams will challenge the Ambrose University Lions.

This past week, the RDP Kings Hockey team defeated the NAIT Ooks and the Queens Hockey squad downed the Medicine Hat College Rattlers. The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens Basketball team split its weekend games. The Kings Basketball team dropped both games. The RDP Queens Volleyball team won on the road while the Kings dropped their match in Fort McMurray. The RDP Rodeo team had several strong performances in southern Alberta.

Michael and Jenna Schnare, Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP) Cross Country Running Head Coaches, have been named the 2025-26 Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Cross Country Running Coaches of the Year. This acknowledgement celebrates the Schnares’ successful leadership and ability to inspire student-athletes to reach their potential.

This week, the RDP Kings Hockey team will play the NAIT Ooks. The Red Deer Polytechnic Kings and Queens Basketball and Volleyball squads will challenge the Keyano College Huskies. Both basketball teams will also tip-off against the Lakeland College Rustlers. The Queens Hockey team will face-off against the Medicine Hat College Rattlers. The RDP Rodeo team will compete in southern Alberta.

The Queens Soccer team sealed bronze at the ACAC Women’s Soccer Championship. The Red Deer Polytechnic Kings and Queens Hockey teams won their weekend games. The RDP Rodeo team had many noteworthy performances in Olds.
Coach Peyrow honoured as ACAC Women’s Soccer South Coach of the Year

Mahziar Peyrow, Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP) Queens Soccer Head Coach, has been named the 2025-26 Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Women’s Soccer South Coach of the Year. “On behalf of RDP, I want to congratulate Mahziar on being named the ACAC Women’s Soccer South Coach of the Year,” says Randy Stewart, Manager, Athletics and Student Life, Red Deer Polytechnic. “This honour is a testament to his unwavering dedication, guidance and the culture of excellence he’s built within the Queens Soccer program. Mahziar’s leadership continues to inspire not only the student-athletes on the Queens Soccer team, but our entire athletic community.”
Red Deer Polytechnic Kings Volleyball team’s winning culture sets the stage for another championship run

The Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP) Kings Volleyball team continues to etch its name into collegiate sports history, dominating both the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) and the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). In the 2024–25 season, the Kings clinched their 21st ACAC gold medal and a record-breaking 14th CCAA National Championship, solidifying their status as the most decorated program in both leagues. This year’s squad is determined to build on that storied legacy.

The RDP Queens Hockey team will face-off against the SAIT Trojans twice. Both Red Deer Polytechnic Soccer squads will host the Olds College Broncos. The Rodeo team will compete in Vermilion.

With 13 returning student-athletes, the Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP) Queens Volleyball team enters the 2025-26 season with a wealth of experience and a clear goal of building upon last year’s Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) bronze medal. “The goal is to always put ourselves in a position to compete for a championship,” says Talbot Walton, Head Coach of the RDP Queens Volleyball team. “While some key leaders graduated the past couple of years, we have student-athletes who are ready to step into leadership roles. The team’s overall leadership will come from a committee of Queens.”
