Calgary, AB - The snowy course and cool weather conditions weren't ideal, but that didn't stop the Red Deer College Cross Country Running team from having a strong outing at Running Room Grand Prix #4. The Kings picked up where they left off from Grand Prix #2, their last Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) competition, taking first place as a team. Despite not having the services of 2018-19 All-Conference selection Jill Stewart, the RDC Queens earned second spot as a group.

Lacombe's Daniel Szucs (28:42) had an outstanding day for the Kings, finishing third among ACAC men over 8 km. Teammates Devin Saunders (28:57) placed fourth and Will Cebuliak (29:23) was eighth. Stephen Rowley (31:36) crossed the finish line in 22nd and Ben Arychuk (32:03) was next.

Following the Kings were the Lethbridge College Kodiaks and then the SAIT Trojans.

Michio Green (28:11), from the University of Alberta Augustana Vikings, took top spot among ACAC men. Connor Jackson (28:22) from the Kodiaks and Szucs (28:42) from the Kings followed.

Stony Plain's Shayla Sklaruk (25:33) led the way for the second place Queens over 6 km and the second-year Bachelor of Education Elementary student finished fifth individually. RDC's Caitlin Debree (26:31) was eighth. Shayna Brower (27:11) placed tenth. Teagan Shapka (27:33) was 13th and Mackenzie Spinks (27:39) wrapped up 14th.

Lethbridge College's Sophia Nowicki (24:23) took top spot among ACAC women. Individually, SAIT's Emilie Mann (25:10) was second and Lethbridge College's Rosie Bouchard (25:12) finished third.

The Lethbridge College Kodiaks grabbed first place among ACAC female teams. After the RDC Queens, the Grande Prairie Regional College Wolves women were next in third. Anna van der Giessen (25:57) led the Wolves.

The team recognized Daniel Szucs and Mackenzie Spinks for their gutsy efforts.

The RDC Cross Country Running team will participate in the Willamette Charles Bowles Cross Country Invitational on Friday, October 5 in Salem, Oregon. The Willamette University Bearcats will host the event.
