This week in RDC Athletics

This week the Red Deer College Soccer teams will play the SAIT Trojans in Calgary and the University of Alberta Augustana Vikings at home. The Red Deer College Cross Country Running team will participate in Grand Prix #4 in Calgary.

In exhibition action, both RDC Volleyball teams will host the Kings & Queens Volleyball Fall Invitational, which will give fans an early look at the 2019-20 rosters. The Queens Basketball team will play its first non-conference game at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre and the RDC Kings Hockey team will continue its exhibition competition on the road.

Queens Soccer | Saturday, September 28 | 12:00 p.m. | SAIT

The RDC Queens Soccer team (2-3-0) will play the SAIT Trojans (2-2-1) in Calgary. The Queens will enter this contest tied for fifth in the south with the University of Alberta Augustana Vikings. The third place SAIT Trojans are even with the Medicine Hat College Rattlers in the south standings.  

Alisha Coules leads the Queens with five goals, which is second most in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Women's Soccer South Division. Olds College's Felicia Rodney has seven markers, which is tops in the south.

The Soccer Queens (2-3-0) will battle the University of Alberta Augustana Vikings (2-3-0).

The Red Deer College Kings Soccer team (3-1-1) will compete against the SAIT Trojans (4-1-0) on the road. The SAIT Trojans and Lethbridge College Kodiaks share top spot with 12 points in the south standings. Next, the RDC Kings and Medicine Hat College Rattlers are even with 10 points each.

The Kings have spread out their offence. Over five games, Gabriel Martins Fonseca, Kaidri Bornyi and Nathan Swartz have scored two goals each. Seven student-athletes have found the back of the net once.

The RDC Kings (3-1-1) will entertain the University of Alberta Augustana Vikings (1-4-0) at home.

RDC Cross Country Running | Grand Prix #4 | Saturday, Sept. 28 | 12:00 p.m. | SAIT

The Red Deer College Kings and Queens will compete in Grand Prix #4, their second ACAC competition of the season. After balancing rest with training, the teams will look for more strong performances in Calgary. Both groups finished in top spot on their home course at Grand Prix #2. Shayla Sklaruk (25:52.98) was first among ACAC women over 6 km and Devin Saunders (28:24.98) placed second in the ACAC Men's Division over 8 km.
