This week in RDC Athletics

The RDC Cross Country Running Kings & Queens are ready to host Running Room Grand Prix #2 on Saturday. This week, both Red Deer College Soccer teams will play their home openers and there is free admission. There is also non-conference hockey action at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre.

Here is a summary of what is happening this week in RDC Athletics:

 

Cross Country Running | Grand Prix #2 | Saturday, September 14 | 12:00 p.m. | RDC

The RDC Cross Country Running team will host Running Room Grand Prix #2. There is no cost to watch these top collegiate cross country runners compete. The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) women will start at 12:00 p.m. and the men will race at 1:00 p.m.

There are still opportunities for high school teams and open runners to register for the event at Red Deer College until noon on Wednesday, September 11. High school runners will race in the morning, which will give Head Coach Kari Elliott a look at some potential RDC student-athletes.

Queens Soccer | Friday, September 13 | 2:00 p.m. | RDC Main Field

The RDC Queens (1-1-0) will play the Olds College Broncos (2-0-0) in their home opener. After only two games, the Broncos and Lethbridge College Kodiaks (2-0-0) are the only undefeated teams in the south. The Red Deer College Queens and Medicine Hat College Rattlers (1-1-0) share third spot in the division with three points each.

RDC's Alisha Coules sits tied for second in ACAC Women's Soccer goal scoring with three.

The Red Deer College Queens will host the SAIT Trojans (0-1-0). Last weekend, the Olds College Broncos defeated the SAIT Trojans 2-1.

 

Kings Soccer | Friday, September 13 | 4:00 p.m. | RDC Main Field

The Red Deer College Kings Soccer team (1-0-1) will face the Olds College Broncos (1-1-0). In the early going, the Kings share top spot in the south with the Medicine Hat College Rattlers (1-0-1). Both squads have four points in the standings.

Kings goalkeeper Jacob Hamilton ranks first in ACAC Men's Soccer with 14 saves.

The RDC Kings will compete against the SAIT Trojans (1-0-0) in an afternoon tilt.

The RDC Kings will face-off against the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns, of U Sports.

The Kings will entertain the Pronghorns in a rematch.

 

Queens Hockey | Sunday, September 15 | 7:30 p.m. | Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre

In non-conference play, the Red Deer College Queens will challenge the Central Alberta Amazons of the Alberta Junior Female Hockey League (AJFHL).
